What the rules say
Wrapped asbestos waste is carried by the licensed removalist to an authorised facility. Broken sheets, loose dust and unwrapped material are never acceptable at general tips or in skips.

In March 2023, WorkSafe Victoria reported a demolition company was fined $25,500 plus $3,999 in costs after asbestos sheeting at a Watsonia North home was loaded into a skip with an excavator. Read the report.

Packaging
Per the Better Health Channel, double-wrap in 200-micron plastic, seal the joints and label it: “Caution asbestos. Do not open or damage bag. Do not inhale dust.”
